In order to accommodate additional participants, the classes have moved from the second Monday of each month at four to the second TUESDAY of each month at 4:15. The class will study the Haftarah which is read on the closest Shabbat following the class. This year’s class will follow the general format of prior years’ classes. The class involves detailed discussion and textual analysis of each of the Haftarot described in English but with occasional reference to the Hebrew .
October 17, 2023 - HAFTARAH FOR MACHAR HODESH (the New Moon)-I- SAMUEL 20:18-42 , Etz Hayim p. 1215.- Who is Jonathan and what is his character? What is the relationship between David and Jonathan? What do we learn of King Saul and what is his relationship with his own son and heir? How does this narrative fit into the coming dynastic struggle between the House of David and the House of Saul? How is Jonathan conflicted and how is the conflict manifested? What is the importance of the new moon?

September 28th 10-12 Seaside Jewish Community will join Repair the Sea®, and Jewish communities around the world in the 8th Annual Reverse Tashlich, a global waterfront cleanup. We will meet at the Fishing Pier - State Henlopen Park from 10-12 for a short Tashlach service by Rabbi Danan followed by a beach cleanup.
