An Unfinished Love Story:  A Personal History of the 1960s by Doris Kearns Goodwin

While many of us have read Doris Kearns Goodwin’s award-winning biographies of U.S. presidents, this is a different type of story as it is immensely personal biography of her late husband Dick, his role as a presidential speechwriter, and the years leading up to his death when they both reviewed their jobs in Washington politics.

This political era is known very well by most of us—JFK election and presidency, LBJ and the Vietnam War, and assassinations of MLK and RFK. George “read” the book in its Audible version -- Doris is the reader, plus this version includes memorable audio excerpts of JFK, LBJ, and RFK in their voices speaking passages that Dick wrote.

Of special note, Jen Mason, proprietor of Biblion bookstore and co-founder of the Lewes History Book Festival (HB), will join us to share her personal experiences with Doris from the time they spent together at last year’s HBF when Doris came to Lewes as a keynote speaker.
