The Rabbi's Seminar 2025: Jews in Search of God in the Modern World
02/05/2025 09:50:14 PM
I love to teach at the intersection of spirituality and academic thought, so each year I offer a special in-depth seminar series via Zoom for Seaside members, with lots of participation and interaction. No prior knowledge or background (or belief system) is needed, only a sincere willingness to learn about Judaism at a deeper level and to engage in meaningful and thoughtful discussion.
Previous Seminars included my first theology class here: "Jews in Search of God: From the Bible to Kabbalah." Last year I took a break from Theology to teach a "Deep Dive into the Holidays," with different thematic and text study for each holiday.
In this year's five-part monthly series, participants will encounter ever changing Jewish views of God in
Modern and Contemporary times. Rather than focusing on one theologian each week, we will explore a different topic each time.
Classes will be held online, on Tuesday evenings, 7:00pm - Third Tuesdays except for April.

(If you have any difficulty registering, please call the synagogue office for assistance and leave a voice message. Someone will get back to you.)
Here are the dates and topics:
February 18: How We Talk about God - If We Even Can
March 18: Rationalism in a Secular Age (God Makes Sense)
April 22 (Fourth Tuesday): Empiricism /Mysticism (I Sense God)
May 20: Existentialism (My Life Makes Sense with God)
