HAFTARAH FOR SHABBAT ZAKHOR - I SAMUEL 15:1- 34 ; ETZ HAYIM p. 1280
How do we relate this Haftarah to the Haftarah for Korach regarding the accession of King Saul which we studied at our last session? What sins if any does King Saul commit? Does King Saul deserve to be stripped of the kingship? Why do we read this Haftarah on the Shabbat before Purim? Who or what is Amalek? Why is Amalek singled out for special opprobrium? Does this Haftarah have any bearing on our understanding of such atrocities as the Holocaust or October 7, 2023?
