Author Reuven Fenton will be interviewed by Robert Weintraub about Reuven's novel Goyhood.

The novel tells the story of twin brothers raised in Georgia who discover they are Jewish at the age of 12 – one brother embraces the identity becoming a yeshiva student in Brooklyn while the other brother takes a different non-religious path.  They reconnect on the event of their mother’s death and set off on a road trip in the South.  It is a time for self-growth and learning to appreciate the secular as well as the religious.  Reuven Fenton is uniquely qualified to write this book as an Orthodox Jew who works as a reporter for the New York Post. He reached out to Seaside and offered to meet with us and discuss the book; Seaside member, Robert Weintraub, will conduct the interview. Fenton says getting his first novel published by Simon & Schuster felt “miraculous” as a white Jewish male in a publishing environment presently skewing against his demographic.  Goyhood is described as a cross between Potok’s The Chosen and the film “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.” Jewish News described the book as “a delicious read” and other reviewers call it hilarious, poignant, surprising.
