The author has agreed to do this Zoom with the Book Group but requires that all who attend have purchased the book.  It can be in any format in which it is available: hardback, paperback, Kindle.  No one will be admitted to the Zoom without having pre-registered through Enid Zafran .  

The author makes up a Jewish family and here a quote from her, “I’d heard about families with children conceived by in vitro fertilization who have additional children years later from leftover embryos, and I found this really fascinating. I was especially interested in the impact on the later child of learning that their family has essentially begun without them.” The Latecomer touches on the topics of grief and guilt, generational trauma, privilege and race, traditions and religion, and family dynamics.

 The title was A New York Times Notable Book of 2022; A Washington Post Notable Work of Fiction; An NPR Best Book of the Year; and A New Yorker Best Book of 2022.
