HAFTARAH FOR MI-KETZ, 1 KINGS 3:15- 4:1 -“Etz Hayim” p. 271.
You all know the story of the Judgment of Solomon, and the phrase “let’s split the baby” is proverbial. Now read the original! What does this famous story tell us about Solomon’s view of the kingship and how he establishes himself as the rightful ruler? What do we learn of human nature? How is this most familiar of stories in Tenach a fitting concomitant to the Parshah, which is setting the stage for the climactic moment in the Joseph story?
