Haftarah Class (Previously scheduled for April 16)

The class will study the Haftarah which is read on the closest Shabbat following the class. This year’s class will follow the general format of prior years’ classes. The class involves detailed discussion and textual analysis of each of the Haftarot described in English but with occasional reference to the Hebrew .

April 30, 2024 - HAFTARAH FOR TAZRIA -2 KINGS 4:42-5:19, Etz Hayim p. 671- Who is Elisha? What miracles does he do? What do we consider a “miracle” and what role, if any, do “miracles” play in Judaism? What other Haftarot feature miracles performed by Elisha? Who is Elisha’s servant, Gehazi, and how did future generations of Rabbis regards him?
