Haftarah Class - This class was originally scheduled for 11/14.  

In order to accommodate additional participants, the classes  have moved from the second Monday of each month at four to the second TUESDAY of each month. The class will study the Haftarah which is read on the closest Shabbat following the class. This year’s class will follow the general format of prior years’ classes. The class involves detailed discussion and textual analysis of each of the Haftarot described in English but with occasional reference to the Hebrew .

December 5, 2023 - HAFTARAH FOR TOLDOT -MALACHI 1.1- 2.7 Etz Hayim p. 162. Who was Malachi? What was Edom? What did it come to represent ? Who else prophesied against Edom? What is Malachi’s message to the priestly classes? How does this Haftarah relate to the Jacob and Esau narrative? Does Esau really deserve the opprobrium he gets from the later Jewish sages?
