The book is published in 2023 and has garnered many accolades and awards such as one of the Wall Street Journal's  Ten Best Books of the Year, a winner of the National Jewish Book Awards for Holocaust Memoir and Sephardic Culture and recipient of the Jewish Book Council’s Natan Notable Book Award. 

Over 6 years (100 Saturdays), Stella Levy met with the author and told him the story of the Jewish community on the island of Rhodes which ended when the Nazis sent all 1,700-plus residents of the Juderia first by boat and then by train to Auschwitz on what was the longest journey—measured by both time and distance—of any of the deportations. Ninety percent of them perished upon arrival.  Stella survived, and now at age 99, is sharing with us the life of a 500-year-old community, its color, its textures, its food, and its sense of belonging.  The illustrations by Maira Kalman make this book even more special.
