Religious School at Seaside
Shalom and thank you for looking at Seaside’s Religious School page!
Our school meets on Sunday mornings from 9:00am to 12:00pm from September through May. Our weekly sessions include classes for kindergarten through 6th grade. We also offer a once-a-month class for our pre-K children, known as Menschkins.
After students complete 6th grade, they move on to a year of B’Mitzvah preparation with both class instruction with their cohort and one on one tutoring sessions with the Religious School Director and Rabbi.
To keep our teens engaged after B’Mitzvah, we welcome and encourage them to volunteer as teaching assistants in the Religious School for the younger grades.
Periodically, teens from Seaside, Epworth, and The Islamic Society of Central Delaware come together to share stories about their faith and get to have a good time doing so.
What does a typical Sunday morning look like? Check out these pictures and find out! Sometimes we bake challah, sometimes we sing, sometimes we pray, and sometimes we do crafts. But we always have fun!

Meet Todd Hacker, our Religious School Director: Todd has been teaching Hebrew School in some capacity since 2003, from 4th graders to high-schoolers, in Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist synagogues. Todd’s teaching skills were acknowledged by the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism by recognizing Todd’s school as a School of Excellence. Todd has also been a school administrator, has taught both pre- and post-confirmation classes, and, with a grant from the Chicago Jewish Federation, enhanced the Hebrew program at Beth Tikva so that it was accepted as foreign language credit in the public schools. Todd has also helped establish a high school (post confirmation) program to give high school students an opportunity to stay connected with their Jewish friends and talk about issues they face as Jewish teens. Todd joined Seaside in 2017, and soon after, taught his first Seaside students for the 2017-2018 school year. Todd received his Master’s Degree in Jewish Education from Gratz College, Melrose Park, PA in 2012. He looks forward to continuing with the school’s successes and enhancing our program as our membership grows and becomes more attractive for young families with children.
