High Holidays

Our observance of the High Holy Days begins a month early in Elul. During this month, we offer a weekly series of devotional readings and a shofar blast. A Selichot service is conducted the Saturday evening preceding Rosh Hashanah.

There is no charge for attending High Holy Day services. To accommodate our growing membership, our High Holy Days services take place in the spacious Epworth United Methodist Church sanctuary. Traditionally, we celebrate a community break-the-fast meal at the conclusion of Yom Kippur. Services offered are:

  • Erev (the night before) and the morning of Rosh Hashanah;
  • Kol Nidrei, and Yom Kippur, morning and evening;
  • Taschlich a “casting-off” service at various locations; and
  • Shabbat Shuvah, a call to “repent and return” at a service between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

.
