Wed 1/15 @ 4 PM: Jewish Intellectual HIstory

1/15/2020 - 4:00 PM - SJC Building

The Adult Education Committee continues its monthly exploration of Jewish Intellectual History at SJC on Wednesday, January 15 at 4 p.m. Samuel Lazzatto (1800-1865) viewed the history of western civilization as the opposition between Judaism and what he called "Atticism." By this he meant the Greek love of philosophy, arts and sciences, the development of intellect and the love of beauty. Judaism, on the other hand, gave the world religion and morality, which spring from the heart, not the mind. Marty Rosensweig will facilitate a group discussion following the viewing of the DVD.
Classes meet the Second Wednesdays of the month at 4:00 pm at SJC.
